Had first of two IG (immunoglobulin) yesterday. Still have IV needle in left wrist. Typing with right index finger. So this will be a short post. One more IVIG this afternoon.
Another guy died yesterday but I don’t think it was the virus. He had cancer. It would be great if they did some testing here and in nursing homes. (This is considered Assisted Living).
I have come to the conclusion that I will never walk again, not for any longish distance. I am okay with that. I’ve been through almost two years of PT. Whatever progress I made, and it was a lot, has been wiped out by the underlying Multi Focal Motor Neuropathy. And/or CDIP.
I identify with Stephen Hawkings a great deal. He had (I think) ALS. But what a life. My illness, so they say can be kept in check, but my ability to stand up from the commode in my room, some days I can do it, other days I need help. Somebody strong to yank me on the left side while I push off with right leg which escaped the two strokes.
The lift I found is this.
I’m still going over this option with my OT worker. I’ll make a decision Monday hopefully. Then I’ll start a fundraiser. It costs $1500. I’ve already contacted friends and family to let them know an ask may be coming.
But I’m not ready until the OT does some measurements to make sure this thing will fit properly over the commode.
In the meantime, there are less and less aides coming in, so I can end up sitting on the commode for an hour before someone responds to my pendant press.

So we’ll see. Now c’mon. How many times do you get a picture of a commode to study? By the way, many of my archives are in the boxes beneath the commode, they help keep it steady when I struggle to get up.
How’s that for irony?
