Corona Diary

I found out that someone I know and was close with a few months ago, and wrote about in these diaries has the virus. I don’t know if he’s still here or in the hospital.

One of the workers that I’m close with told me there are 4 cooks here and one of them is blind.

I spent twp hours trying to figure out how a cook could be blind.

Then I called my friend Matt and we tried to figure it out. How could someone cook 100 hamburgers without seeing them. Wasn’t it possible that he would start a fire? Could a blind man be a sous chief and cut onions? I said I thought there was a finger in my soup yesterday. Ha. Ha.

Nothing against blind folks but I don’t want Ray Charles or Stevie Wonder cooking with fire for me.

Matt was saying that if they cracked an egg they wouldn’t be able to find the bits of egg shell. Listen, I once had a totally blind woman who wanted to learn photography. She was pretty good actually.

Anyway, that would explain why one day the food would be good and other times I had to toss it.

I asked another blue coat yesterday if it was true that there were 4 cooks. She said yep.

And is one of them really blind?

She looked at me like I was nuts.

No, she said. We have a guy who is a deaf mute but he can see.

Oh, is he any good at it?

He’s the best cook we got but he’s only here two days a week.

I’m now on the trail of trying to figure out his schedule. We had some kind of crusty fish last night and a real baked potato with real sour cream. Delish and I don’t like fish. And I didn’t get heartburn.
